Residential

VALUE: £10 Million

This unique development in a beautiful setting saw an existing mill incorporating 4 storeys developed and refurbished into 19 luxury apartments and 10 beautiful homes for Barnfield Homes, 19 apartments for Yorkshire Housing and 26 apartments for Jephson Homes.

The project involving a derelict textile mill was unique in that a joint commissioning approach was used throughout to minimise costs and reduce delays in the process.

Even though there were two separate registered providers of social housing and some homes for sale privately, professional services such as architects, quantity surveyors and solicitors were shared.

The development is partly surrounded by Sutton Beck and as part of the planning conditions, Barnfield Construction re-developed the pedestrian crossings and build a new children’s play area nearby.

During construction, Yorkshire Housing took the decision to buy a further 19 apartments from Barnfield Construction.

The success of the Greenroyd Mill scheme was recognized when it was awarded the ‘Outstanding achievement in collaborative and partnership working award’ at the Local Government Yorkshire and Humber making a difference awards 2011.
