A new chapter starts for Northlight as luxury apartments are launched at the former Brierfield Mill, Pendle’s iconic Lancashire cotton mill.

“Our ambitious vision to create a new £32m learning, living, working, leisure and cultural destination for the North West is becoming real,” announced Councillor Iqbal, Leader of Pendle Council.

“This is a total transformation,” he stated.

Northlight is the flagship project of PEARL which stands for Pendle Enterprise And Regeneration Ltd.

PEARL is the joint venture company of Pendle Council and Barnfield Investment Properties which has clocked up 10 years of regeneration and £83 million investment in Pendle.

“The new apartments offer urban living in a stunning Victorian mill on a seven-acre site with everything you need on your doorstep,” explained Councillor Iqbal.

“It’s a new way to live, work and play in spectacular surroundings,” he stressed.

“When I first visited the derelict mill in 2012 it was a daunting challenge,” he admitted.

“So it’s been inspiring to see the whole mill complex coming to life with a totally new sense of purpose,” he said.

Councillor Iqbal, who is a PEARL board member added:

“Northlight provides opportunities for a better quality of life for local people and we’re supporting local businesses and creating hundreds of jobs,” he explained.

Lancashire Adult Learning is based at the elegant mill office buildings, Burnley FC in the Community has a state of the art Leisure Box in the high bay warehouse and the new home for In-Situ arts is in the converted historic mill garage.

Tim Webber, Managing Director of Barnfield is also a PEARL board member.  He said:

“With all these facilities on site, stunning Victorian architecture and breathtaking views over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to Pendle Hill – this will be an amazing location to live in!”

“Already half of the 36 apartments in the first phase of converting the main mill building have been reserved so anyone who is interested will need to act fast,” he said.

Anyone interested in viewing the show apartment can call 01282 22 22 88 or email  enquiries@northlightestates.com   More details on Northlight living can been found by visiting www.northlightestates.com

People buying a Northlight apartment will get a year’s free membership of the new gym currently being built at Burnley FC in the Community’s Leisure Box at the site.

Tim Webber said.

“As Pendle developers with our HQ within sight of Northlight, working to transform this historic landmark has been a labour of love for us.

“Barnfield Construction has a highly experienced team working on this complex and challenging project.

“We use Pendle contractors where possible too – from plumbers to electricians, painters and decorators,” he explained.

Northlight is supported by a range of funding including £4.95m from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership (LEP) Growth Deal Funding, £2.15m from Lancashire County Council and £1.5m from Pendle Council.

Steve Fogg, Chair of the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership, said: “It is great to see this milestone in the development of the Northlight project, which is creating leisure facilities, apartments, offices and a home for Lancashire Adult Learning in what was an abandoned and disused former mill site.

“We invested £4.95m in Growth Deal funds to help unlock the investment to enable this project to go ahead and drive regeneration, create jobs and spur local economic growth in this area of Lancashire.

“Northlight is one of over 40 projects across the county that are being funded by the Lancashire Growth Deal as part of our strategic programme to transform Lancashire’s economy.”
