Following Rossendale Borough Council’s Development Control Meeting last night (16th December) the Council approved the planning permission for variation of conditions at New Hall Hey.
This planning approval means that the Council is delighted to announce that major retail Marks and Spencer’s will be opening a Simply Food at New Hall Hey.
This major investment for Rawtenstall comes after much hard work from the Council and all partners involved; Marks and Spencer’s, West Register and Barnfield Construction.
M&S are delighted to have a presence in Rossendale and they will add significantly to the retail quality and environment on offer in Rawtenstall.
Not only is this a great development opportunity for Rawtenstall it also present a fantastic employment offer for Rossendale as the store will provide around 50 FTE jobs that will cater to many times of employment requirements.
Speaking of the planning approval Council Leader Cllr Alyson Barnes said; “We have waited a long time for this development to come together, we have been working hard behind the scenes for the last few months to make this happen. I would like to welcome M&S to Rawtenstall and see this as further confirmation that there is confidence in the borough, its future, and our regeneration agenda.”
Cllr Christine Lamb echoed these sentiments and added; “I’m sure residents will be excited to have Marks and Spencer’s in Rawtenstall. I also welcome the 50FTE job opportunities they will be providing in the Valley.”
