Successful online retailer, Thingimijigs Ltd, watched on as the steel frame for their new 10,000 sq ft. extension was lifted in to place earlier today.
Thingimijigs Ltd were one of the first tenants to locate onto the 2 acre Empire Business Park off Liverpool Road in Burnley when it was first opened in 2009.
The online retailer sells over 2,500 different lines of children’s gifts and accessories both nationwide and globally to countries including USA, Australia, France, Germany and Israel.
Some of the products on offer through their website Thingimijigs.com include children’s fancy dress costumes, umbrellas, backpacks, socks, pyjamas and the expansion at Empire Business Park will help facilitate new ranges and more of their own exclusive licensed designs to be made.
The business has grown from working at their kitchen table with a £200 order, to a purpose built 10,000 sq ft. facility and a £1.3 million turnover per annum, over the last 10 years.
Managing Director of Thingimijigs Ltd, Rachael White commented on the expansion “We chose Empire Business Park initially as we were pleased with the buildings and the willingness of Barnfield Construction to work with us and help us design a unit appropriate for our needs.
Over the last 5 years we have been pleased with the relationship between ourselves, and found Barnfield to be a natural partner to help our expansion plans. The location is close to the motorway and local bus routes which is great for commuting staff and makes this a prime location for our business”.
Phase 2 of the business park also includes an 18,000 sq ft purpose built unit for Pickup Systems who specialise in the conversion of pickup trucks and light commercial vehicles for key clients such as the Emergency Services, Mountain Rescue and Electricity Northwest.
Brand new units from 2,000 sq ft will be available from autumn 2014 & design & build opportunities up to 70,000 sq ft are now available on Phase 3.
