Earlier this year we entered the BIBAs, Lancashire’s largest and longest running business awards programme. The BIBAs is run by the North and Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, Lancashire’s largest business membership organisation.

The judges included some of the best business minds in Lancashire and the process of being shortlisted was much more than submitting a paper entry and a short chat. For finalist businesses, the ‘BIBAs on tour’ model saw the judges visit the companies to get a first-hand look and feel about how the businesses operate.

It’s thanks to our incredible people that we were shortlisted for Construction Business of the Year and Business of the Year.

We were invited to the prestigious Awards Ceremony held at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom on Friday night where we rubbed shoulders with some of the best businesses in Lancashire. Over 1000 people attended and it truly was an incredible experience.

Judges for the business of the year category were looking for an outstanding business that could best demonstrate exceptional financial returns, strong growth, specific innovation strategies, and market leadership in its sector. We are incredibly proud to be named as RUNNERS UP for the category of Business of the Year. This was the ‘Award of the Night’, the ‘One to Win!’ and we named as finalists alongside successful businesses such as the Senator Group and Bowland Brewery. Competition was fierce and Leyland Trucks, one of the UKs largest manufacturing and distribution services won the award.

Later, Tim Webber MBE, Chairman and Managing Director of Barnfield Construction and previous winner of the prestigious award of Lancastrian of the Year, presented this year’s award to David Taylor CBE, DL. The High Sheriff of Lancashire, Pro-Chancellor and Chair of the Board of University of Central Lancashire and Chair of multiple regeneration businesses.

The event was hosted by Strictly Come Dancing Star Brendan Cole and later we saw a star-studded performance from X-Factor winner Shane Ward. The whole evening wrapped up with floor fillers from Smooth Radio and as usual we had a good old dance!

Once again, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all our staff for being an integral part of our success story. It is important to remember that being recognised as runners-up for Business of the Year among the best businesses in the North West is an accomplishment in itself. Well done team Barnfield!
