The development vehicle of Euro Garages entrepreneurs Zuber and Mohsin Issa has lodged two fresh planning applications at Frontier Park, Blackburn.

A reserved matters application for a 186,000 sq ft warehouse is scheduled to be determined before the end of October. Should consent be granted, Monte plans to start construction before the end of the year, with the unit ready for occupation from September 2018.

A second application has been submitted for a 95,250 sq ft, 1,400-capacity conference centre and 150-bedroom hotel on a 15-acre plot at the front of the scheme.

The 90-acre site in Whitebirk has outline consent for 1m sq ft of development. Four further industrial units are planned, ranging in size from 94,500 sq ft to 378,000 sq ft.

GVA and Trevor Dawson are retained agents for the scheme.

Zuber Issa said “Frontier Park is part of Monte’s vision to develop a prestigious new business park on the M65 and demonstrates the firm’s ongoing commitment to investing in Lancashire.

“Our investment in this scheme and the operators already committed shows the area is now increasingly attractive for business investment and yet more jobs for the borough and surrounding area will be created.”

Barnfield Construction started work in May on a £7m programme of works including access, service connection and topographical remodelling. Work on the Euro Garages service area, fronting the Whitebirk roundabout, will start this month, with opening scheduled for December 2017.
